Origin: Peru
Achihua (local name) is a very light weight, clear, fairly soft Peruvian hardwood species. Excelent substitute for bass wood.
Used locally in furniture making.
Color is very light yellow or nearly white. Incredible chatoyance which does not show in photos. Chatoyance is a changable color or luster. Wood appears to shimmer when moved. Bright and flashy.
Unknown outside of Peru.
Sands and Finishes well. Takes stain very well.
Good carving wood.
