We try to describe the wood as accurately as is reasonably possible. Wood such as burls often have checks and voids and it is not possible to completely describe these individual characteristics. Pen blanks of burl woods should be assumed to have checks and voids but we make every effort to only offer blanks that can be turned into a finished product.
